Assam Cabinet approves inclusion of 41 villages in BTR

GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet took a slew of important decisions today, including an increase in the ration money of police personnel, loans for self-employment, the inclusion of new villages in the BTR, the setting up of a unity mall, etc.

The Cabinet today gave its approval for the inclusion of 41 Bodo-dominated villages in Gohpur and Biwanath LACs into the BTR. This is part of the Bodo peace accord.

The Cabinet approved loans and grants amounting to Rs 2–5 lakh to one lakh unemployed youths under the Mukhya Mantrir Atmanirbhor Asom Scheme. The registration of this scheme will start on September 23, 2023. Fifty percent of the loans will be grants, and the remaining 50 percent will be interest-free bank loans. The Cabinet raised the ration money for police personnel from the existing Rs 2,000 per month to Rs 2,500 per month.

The Cabinet gave its administrative approval of Rs 226 crore for the establishment of Unity Mall near the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre at Betkuchi here. The mall will display special local products by local artists from the districts. The one-district, one-product items will be showcased in the mall, along with the GI-tagged items from the state. The Cabinet gave its approval to the extension of the services of polytechnic lecturers.
