GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet is going for its first expansion on June 9. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself disclosed it today before the media. He also dropped a hint that he would induct a face from one of the two hill districts.

Karbi Anglong has four BJP MLAs – Deputy Speaker Dr Numal Momin, Dorsing Ranghang, Bidya Sing Engleng and Roop Singh Terang. Dima Hasao has lone BJP MLA Nandita Garlosa.

According to the Representation of the People's Act, in the 126-member House, the size of the Ministry should not exceed 18, excluding the Chief Minister. The state Cabinet at present has 13 ministers. Though the Chief Minister made no mention of axing any of the ministers, an undercurrent continues to flow in the corridors of power regarding the Chief Minister taking seriously the issue of Minister Sanjay Kishan tendering an abject apology before Paresh Baruah. The Chief Minister has already warned Kishan twice about the apology.
