GUWAHATI: The State Cabinet on Sunday took several decisions including monetary relief provisions for erosion-affected people.

The meeting of the State Council of Ministers held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday afternoon approved the provision for rehabilitation of erosion-affected people in three categories — Rs 5 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh. The holiday list for 2021 was also approved with 34 general holidays and 31 restricted holidays.

The meeting also decided to constitute the 'Medical College & Hospital Critical Care Service Rule'.

The change of nomenclature 'Miri' to Mishing has also been approved.

The Cabinet further decided to bring in a new legislation for regulation of the micro-financial institutions in line with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines.

A legislation will be introduced in the forthcoming session of the Assam Assembly to repeal the provisions of Madrassas and Sanskrit tolls.

The meeting approved agricultural income tax holidays and a new policy for agarwood cultivation.

The Cabinet also decided to introduce online permission provision to set up private educational institutions in the State.
