GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma greeted the people of Assam for the Durga Puja. In a statement, he said that the tradition of worshipping the goddess has been a practice since ancient times, and the Hindus have been worshipping Goddess Durga as the destroyer of demons since the Vedic era. The essence of Durga Puja is Bhakti (devotion), Shraddha (respect), and Sadhana (disciplined and dedicated practice). He hopes that the Durga Puja will foster peace, harmony, and fraternity among the people of the state.
