GUWAHATI: The Chairman of 'Border Dispute Committee' (for Kamrup-Metro) of the Government of Assam, Minister Pijush Hazarika met Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong in Shillong on Monday. Both discussed the vexed long-pending inter-State boundary issue. They further decided that representatives of both the States would inspect the disputed areas at Pilingkata, Borpathar, Ganesh Nagar, and Khanapara Number 2. The joint survey will start on October 9.
After the meeting, the delegation from Assam also paid a courtesy visit to Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
Members of the Assam delegation thanked both the Chief Ministers for their interest in resolving the boundary issue.
Minister Hazarika was accompanied by Dispur MLA Atul Bora, West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu, and Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh among others.
