GUWAHATI: The high-level committee led by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog has identified 80,000 vacant posts in various departments. And Neog has given four days to the departments to submit their respective proposals on creating new posts.

Neog chaired the meeting with the heads of departments on Monday to chart out the position of vacant posts in them. The meeting was part of the BJP's poll promise of providing jobs to one lakh youths in a year.

The Finance Minister formed a core committee with Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua as the chairman. The committee will speed up the recruitment process, besides ensuring transparency.

Neog said that Health, Education and Home departments would get preference in the recruitment process. "The filling up of the vacant posts in the newly-created districts and filling up of vacant third and fourth-grade posts are also in the priority list," she said.

She further said that after receiving reports from the heads of departments she would share that with the Chief Minister, and start the recruitment process following his guidelines.

"I've appealed to all heads of departments to make the recruitment process a transparent one. Their cooperation is a must to make this a success," she added.

The heads of departments presented the positions of vacant posts, besides the scopes of creating new posts.
