- 24,30,502 persons across 2,254 villages affected

GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam remained critical on Monday with one more person reported dead at Sonapur in Kamrup (Metro) district, taking the toll to 85. Meanwhile, the main rivers and their tributaries were flowing above the danger level at various places across the State. Personnel of NDRF, SDRF and the respective district administration are carrying out rescue operations at various places.
While the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Dibrugarh, Neamatighat in Jorhat, Tezpur in Sonitpur, Goalpara and Dhubri; Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat district; Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpur district; Kopili at Dharamtul in Nagaon district; Beki at Road Bridge in Barpeta district; and the Kushiyara in Karimganj district.
Altogether 24 out of the 33 districts of the State have been affected during the last 24 hours, said the daily bulletin of ASDMA.
The flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, and Cachar.
As many as 24,30,502 persons of 2,254 villages/ localities in 70 Revenue Circles have been affected. Altogether 48,197 persons have taken shelter in 276 relief camps. Altogether 192 relief distribution centres have been set up during the last 24 hours.
Total crop area affected is 1,09,600.53 hectares.
A total of 9,45,600 big animals have been affected besides 4,74,629 small animals and 9,70,123 poultry have been affected till Monday evening.
Embankments, roads and bridges/culverts have been breached at many places. Erosion has been reported from various places in Majuli, Baksa, Sonitpur and Udalguri districts.
While 45 camps have been affected in Kaziranga National Park, six others have been vacated across the Park. On the other hand, while 108 Park animals have died, 135 others have been rescued till date. In Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, while 12 camps have been affected; four have been shifted.
