GUWAHATI: Floods claimed three more lives in the State, taking the toll of the year to 96 so far.

A person each was killed in the deluge at Kalgachia in Barpeta district, Kokrajhar in Kokrajhar district and Mayong in Morigaon district on Friday. As many as 2,543 villages under 72 revenue circles in 26 districts in the State have been under the wrath of floods.

The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Nemeatighat in Jorhat, Tezpur, Guwahati, Goalpara and Dhubri. While the Dhansiri is following above the danger level at Numaligharh in Golaghat district, the Jia Bharali is flowing over the red mark at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpur district, the Kopili at Kampur and Dharamtul in Nagaon district, the Beki at the Road Bridge in Barpeta district, the Kushiyara in Karimganj district and the Sankosh at Golokganj in Dhubri district.

While around 5,101 houses have been damaged fully, 25,504 ohter houses have been damaged partially. Around 19,36,149 big animals, 46,5,781 small animals and 9,14,936 poultry have been affected by the flood. In the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) while 125 animals died due to floods, 153 other animals have been rescued.
