GUWAHATI: Nine senior officers of the State Forest Service of Assam have been promoted to the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and allocated to the Assam segment of the Assam-Meghalaya joint cadre of IFS by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India.

Just as officers under Assam Civil Services (ACS) are promoted to Indian Administrative Service (IAS), nine senior officers of the Assam Forest Service have been promoted to IFS on the basis of recommentation of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). These nine officers are – Brahma Nanda Patiri, Rabi Singh Engti, Joganath Rongpi, Nando Ram Teron, Sushil Kumar Thakuria, Muhammad Adbel Salam Arief, Dilip Kumar Deka, Bidyut Barthakur and Shafiqur Rahman.
