GUWAHATI: The State Government has approved Rs 287.88 crore under the SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund) to various departments to repair flood damage.

The State Executive Committee (SEC) of the ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority) met recently to approve funds under SDRF. The meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary, approved the funds for various departments that repair flood damage.

According to the Government of India's guidelines, the approval of the State Executive Committee of the ASDMA is a must for providing SDRF funds for the repair of the damage caused by disasters.

Various departments had submitted their project proposals seeking SDRF funds to repair the damage caused by floods in 2021. The State Executive Committee of the ASDMA examined the project proposals and approved funds for departments like Water Resources, PWD, Power and Education. The ASDMA approved Rs 196.61 crore to the Water Resources Department against 113 projects, Rs 90.46 crore to PWD against 500 projects, Rs 73.38 lakh to Power Department and Rs 7.22 lakh to Education Department.

In 2021, floods also damaged some installations of the Power Department and some schools.

The approval of SDRF funds follows the guidelines issued by the Government of India.

The SDRF funding pattern is 90:10 – the Centre provides 90 per cent of the funds, and the State Government provides a 10 per cent matching amount.
