GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has informed the Gauhati High Court that it has taken a decision to do away with the requirement of TET (Teachers’ Eligibility Test) qualification for the selection upon posts of postgraduate and graduate teachers in provincialized secondary schools.

State Advocate General D Saikia informed the High Court that he would place on record an affidavit to fortify this assertion within a week.

The State Government made it clear before the High Court in a writ appeal filed by 101 petitioners.

A division bench of the High Court listed the appeal for its next hearing on April 11.
