GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal talked to Union Home Minister Amit Shah over telephone on Saturday, and apprised him about the situation at the Assam-Mizoram boundary and the steps taken by the State Government. He requested the Union Home Minister to take necessary steps by the Central Government to maintain peace and harmony in the boundary areas and assured that the State Government would follow the directives of the Central Government in managing the situation.

The Chief Minister reviewed the current situation of the Assam-Mizoram boundary at a meeting held at Janata Bhawan during the day. Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah apprised the Chief Minister about the present situation there and DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta informed him about the steps taken for keeping the law-and-order situation under control.

The Chief Minister directed the top officials to maintain peaceful environment and keep brotherhood and harmony intact at the Assam-Mizoram boundary areas.

Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Paban Borthakur, ADGP (Law and Order) G.P. Singh, Commissioner and Secretary of Home Department G.D Tripathy were also present in the meeting, stated a release.
