GUWAHATI: With hardly three months left for the announcement of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in the state, the political parties in the fray are gearing up for the crucial polls.

All the political parties like Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), opposition party Congress, Bodoland Peoples’ Front (BPF), All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), etc. are getting their act together and have already started their organizational work in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls.

Recently, the ruling coalition parties BJP, AGP and UPPL held a meeting in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and senior office-bearers of the parties.

The BPF also announced that it will hold its Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting on November 30. This meeting is being considered as crucial in light of the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s recent statement regarding the party. The CM had said that the BJP will seek the help of the BPF in constituencies outside the BTR, although it is not an alliance partner.

Talking to The Sentinel on this issue, senior spokesperson and BPF Legislature Party leader Durga Das Boro said, “So far we are sure to contest in two parliamentary constituencies, Kokrajhar and Darrang-Udalguri. The CM’s comment has come to our notice. So far, there has been no official discussion on the matter of providing support to the BJP outside the BTR, not within the party or with the BJP, for that matter. We will discuss our strategy for the Lok Sabha polls at the meeting in Musalpur in Baksa district.”

He further said that in recent times, the popularity of Hagrama Mohilary has increased in BTR and many leaders and workers from the BJP and UPPL are now joining BPF.
