GUWAHATI: All investigating agencies of the Assam Police have been put on alert to nab absconding Inspector Biman Roy, the accused in the Ghograpar Police Station incident in Nalbari, said sources. Even after 72 hours, Roy has been able to evade arrest.

On June 29, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh has mentioned on Twitter, “Inspector (now under suspension) Biman Roy, former OC Ghograpar PS of Nalbari DEF is prime suspect in Nalbari PS Case No. 287/23 U/S- 354(B)/509 IPC R/W Sec. 12/14(1) of POCSO Act. He is absconding. Anyone providing information to SP Nalbari Police about his whereabouts would be suitably rewarded.”

A 17-year-old girl filed a case in Nalbari Police Station, alleging that an SI of Ghograpar Police Station had assaulted her sexually and taken some obscene photographs, besides making advances.
