GUWAHATI: Assam recorded one of the lowest retail inflation rates in the country in July 2023. The retail inflation rate in Assam was 3.91 percent last month. The Office of the Chief Minister (CMO), Assam, wrote it to X (formerly known as Twitter), quoting the RBI (Reserve Bank of India) and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation as sources.
The CMO said, “The Government of Assam is committed to keeping inflation under control and providing succour to the people. Multiple policy interventions, initiated by HCM Dr. @himantabiswa, have led to stable prices. This has made Assam one of the states with the lowest inflation level of 3.91%.”
According to the CMO, the retail inflation rate in the state was 8.3 percent in November 2021. A dramatic fall in inflation due to timely policy measures of the Double Engine Government and empowering people through anti-inflationary policy interventions, due to demand and supply side policy interventions of the Double Engine Government, increased cash transfers to women and farmers such as Orunodoi and PM Kisan, incentivizing cashless health insurance and free rations to every household, productivity gains due to crop diversification policies, and lowering transportation costs through record investment in roads, railways, and airports.
Retail inflation, also known as Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation, is the rate at which the prices of goods and services that consumers buy for personal use increase over time.
