GUWAHATI: Barpeta DC Tej Prasad Bhusal taught a paan masala-chewing contractor a unique lesson on hygiene.
While going upstairs, the Deputy Commissioner noticed paan masala-laden spittle staining a step of the stairs red. He then started an investigation asking the officials and other employees to ascertain the person spitting there. Finding no clue, the DC had to check the CCTV camera installed there. The footage made it clear that a contractor, Raju Deuri, spate paan masala-laden spittle there.
The DC then called the contractor and asked him to clean the sputum. The contractor admitted his mistake and cleaned the stair by bringing water himself.
The employees praised the deputy commissioner for his on-the-spot action.
Had all office heads been strict in hygiene like Bhusal, cleanliness would have been a reality in all offices in the State.
