On land encroachment around the Batadroba Than, the birthplace of great Vaishnavite Guru Mohapurush Srimanta Shankardev, SP Doley said, "The police received information that many among the attackers occupied and purchased government and xatra land on fake land documents. The administration decided to carry out a proper survey in this regard. Under directives of the Nagaon Deputy Commissioner, the government agencies concerned have already started the survey of land in the disputed territory."
Meanwhile, the District Agriculture Department also submitted a plea to the district administration and the police administration to clear over 50 bighas of land of Batadroba Agriculture Farm encroached upon by some suspected nationals. In the plea submitted by the district agriculture department, District Agriculture Officer Tarun Hazarika stated that over 50 families of a particular community and people of suspected nationality forcefully encroached upon over 50 bighas of land of the agriculture seed farm situated at Hidoobi near Batadroba Than. They also destroyed the boundary walls of the agriculture farm and were trying to encroach upon more land of the farm at Hiddobi.
Hazarika stated that the farm had over 120 bighas of land, but 50 families belonging to a particular had encroached upon over 50 bighas. They also constructed concrete houses and semi-concrete houses inside the agriculture farm.
The plea also stated that the department concerned used the seed farm for quality certified seeds for winter paddy and other crops, besides using it as a community nursery over the years during the flood for the distribution of saplings among the flood-hit farmers in the district.
But the department concerned could not carry out all those services nowadays on the farm.
