The Assam Police said that the current bunch of scammers are attempting to get you all ‘wired up’. “Don’t fall for them. Give these scammers an electric shock by not responding to or blocking their numbers.”
You may get messages that read like, “Dear consumer, your electricity will be disconnected... because your month’s bill was not updated. Please immediately contact our electricity officer, send a WhatsApp payment screen shot, or bill retails...”
Such messages are meant to get details about your power consumer number and other details.
