GUWAHATI: The BJP-led ruling alliance in the state and the Congress named their respective candidates for the Rajya Sabha election slated for March 31, 2022. While the ruling alliance fielded Pabitra Margherita (BJP) and Rwngwra Narzary (UPPL), the AICC fielded Ripun Bora.
Congress needs the support of the AIUDF and independent MLAs to win one of the two seats. The only independent MLA in the state Assembly is Akhil Gogoi. Congress MLA Sherman Ali is free to support any candidate after his expulsion from Congress. The BJP claims that it will clinch both the seats.
