DHUBRI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that people in Assam as well as across the country have been immensely benefitted by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre and Dispur. He said this while addressing an election rally at the 'Dhubri Sports Complex' on Wednesday.

After Sonowal landed at the Dhubri Sports Complex helipad, he was accorded a warm welcome by party workers and supporters. While campaigning for Dr Debamoy Sanyal — the party's candidate from Dhubri Assembly Constituency, Sonowal said that the BJP is fighting the State polls on the agenda of bringing about all-round development of the masses. He further said that the BJP-led governments in Delhi and Dispur have done a lot for the people in the fields of education, health, agriculture, communication and infrastructural development. Making a scathing attack on the Congress, Sonowal said that the Congress did nothing for this area during its 60 years in power. He added, "But now, Dhubri is going to have Asia's longest bridge connecting Dhubri with Phulbari, an airport, a medical college, and an alternative railway track from Gauripur to Abhayapuri. The River Port has been made operational at Dhubri too."

Sonowal also said that to continue this pace of development, people of this constituency needed a BJP legislator who would be able to bring more benefits for the people. "Dr Sanyal relentlessly thinks for people. So send him to Dispur for your well-being," he added.

The Chief Minister further said, "The masses have reaped the benefits of various development schemes implemented by the BJP-led Central and Assam governments", and referred to the houses under PMAY, LPG connections under Ujjawala Yojana, rice at hugely subsidized prices, free education, free medical care, Orunodoi scheme for women, financial assistance to farmers and many more.

Sonowal also promised to construct an alternative road-cum-embankment from Dhubri to Gauripur to deal with the traffic congestion in Dhubri town. He also campaigned for all the party candidates across Dhubri district on Wednesday — Ashwani Roy Sarkar at Golokganj, for Bonendra Kumar Mushahary at Gauripur and for Ashok Kumar Singhi at Bilasipara.

Union Minister for Textiles, Smiti Irani too addressed a public rally in favour of Dr Debamoy Sanyal at the 'Raja Prabhat Chandra Barua Maidan'. She appealed to the masses to cast their votes in favour of BJP candidates on April 6.
