GUWAHATI: The BPF (Bodoland People's Front) has started its preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The party has its eyes set on Kokrajhar and Mangaldai parliamentary seats.

Senior spokesperson and BPF Legislature Party leader Durga Das Boro said this. The BPF was a constituent of the Congress-led grand alliance in the 2021 Assembly election in the state. After the poll debacle, the BPF came out of the grand alliance. Now the party is maintaining floor coordination with the BJP-led coalition in the state.

Talking to The Sentinel, Durga Das Boro said, "We held our CWC (Central Working Committee) meeting. The meeting did not discuss the Lok Sabha poll directly. It, however, discussed preparations for the parliamentary elections. We will reorganize all district and block-level committees. The formation of booth-level committees of the party is underway. We have already formed 50 per cent of the booth-level committees and will form the remaining 50 per cent of committees within two months."

Boro said, "We have not taken the final decision for the Lok Sabha poll. We have our eyes set on Kokrajhar and Mangaldai Lok Sabha seats. We fielded candidates for parliamentary election four times in Kokrajhar and twice in Mangaldai. We have many senior leaders capable of fighting the parliamentary election. We will meet again after Diwali. We will discuss the Lok Sabha poll at that meeting in detail."

The BPF has three MLAs in the State Assembly now. The party came into being in 2003.
