GUWAHATI: The new CEM (Chief Executive Member) and the Deputy CEM of the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) besides three other newly elected members of the MCLA (Members of Council Legislative Assembly) of the BTC will take oath as Executive Members (EMs) at the ceremony to be organized in Kokrajhar on December 15.
Among those who will take oath are UPPL (United People's Party Liberal) chief PramodBoro as the CEM, and UPPL vice-president GobindaBasumatary as the Deputy CEM. Besides, Ghanashyam Das of the GSP (Gana Suraksha Party), the other two MCLAs to take oath as EMs will be from the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).
The ceremony will be attended by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and NEDA (North East Democratic Alliance) convenor and Minister HimantaBiswaSarma along with other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, the lone MLCA from the INC (Indian National Congress) elected from the Srirampur Constituency under Kokrajhar district – Sajal Kumar Sinha joined the BJP in the presence of Himanta Biswa Sarma in a Guwahati hotel on Monday evening. The tally of BJP in the 40-member BTC has risen to 10 now. Minister Sarma also hinted before the media that five to six MLCAs from the BPF (Bodoland People's Front) will join the party soon.
As on date, while the BPF has 17 members in the new BTC, the UPPL has 12, and the GSP has one elected member in the new Council.
