GUWAHATI: BJP has not made any official announcement regarding its alliance with the BPF. Despite that, BPF made it clear today that it would back the BJP candidates in three LACs – Bhabanipur, Mariani and Thowra – in the October 30 bye-poll.

The BPF even said that BPF president Hagrama Mohilary would campaign for the BJP candidates in the three LACs. Hagrama is a known star poll campaigner.

Talking to The Sentinel, BPF general secretary Prabin Boro said, "We have already named our candidate for Gossaigaon LAC. Our candidate, Dhruba Kumar Brahma Narzary, has already submitted his nominations from the LAC.

"We have not yet decided our role in Tamulpur LAC. Our leader Ganesh Kachary submitted his nominations as an independent candidate from Tamulpur.

"In the remaining three LACs, we will back the BJP candidates. Even our party president Hagrama Mohilary will campaign for the BJP candidates in the three constituencies."

When asked if a BJP-BPF alliance will be a reality, Boro said, "We have talked to the Chief Minister in this regard. He gave us a positive signal. People will get a clear picture shortly." The BJP-BPF alliance got severed in the last BTC election. The two parties fought the last Assembly elections also on their own.
