GUWAHATI: The Centre today approved ten new flyover-and-road over-bridge projects worth Rs 738 crore on the national highways in Assam.
Union Road Transport and Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari informed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of this in New Delhi. The Chief Minister met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and national BJP president JP Nadda.
Chief Minister Sarma said that he had met the Prime Minister and apprised him of the various development projects and welfare schemes of Assam. "I also sought his blessings and guidance for accelerating the pace of growth in our state. I've invited the Prime Minister to Assam. We have some projects that are waiting to be inaugurated by him. Most probably the Prime minister will come to Assam in May," he said.
After meeting JP Nadda, the Chief Minister said, "I expressed gratitude to him for his advice that ensured BJP's stellar performance in Majuli bye-election and municipal board elections in Assam." The locations of the newly approved flyover are Kathiatali, Borghat, Demow, Raha, Baihata Chariali, Simlaguri, Bongaigaon Refinery, Chap-aguri, Pathsala and Jagiroad. The projects would script the growth story through improved connectivity, he added.
