Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Stresses Mix of Technology

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the north-eastern region of the country was very rich in mines, minerals and other natural resources. However, with right mix of technology and proper planning, the region would be in a position to utilize its full potential in this sector.

The Chief Minister today attended the first North East Geology and Mining Ministers' Conclave in presence of Union Minister for Mines, Coal and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi at Chumoukedima in Nagaland.

Referring to Odisha which has made significant progress using the resources extracted from mines, Chief Minister Sarma said that the mineral resources in the region should be judiciously used to expedite the rate of development. He also sought cooperation and support of the Union Coal, Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi for Assam to draw the right kind of roadmap for the prudent utilization of its mineral resources.
