GOLAGHAT: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated an office building on the premises of Athkhelia Namghar in Golaghat district on Wednesday, the first day of auspicious 'Bhado'. He offered prayers there for the well-being of all sections of the people of the State.

Addressing the devotees at the namghar, the Chief Minister said that Athkhelia Namghar is significantly contributing to the spiritual awakening in the state, besides promoting peace, harmony and camaraderie among all sections of society. He appreciated the role of this historic namghar in taking forward the teachings and values of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva and Sri Sri Madhavdeva.

The Chief Minister announced Rs 5 crore for the development of infrastructure of the namghar.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the measures taken for containing the Covid pandemic. He stressed the need of ensuring total vaccination by deploying officials for door-to-door inoculation. He asked the deputy commissioners and the Health officials to set a target of at least 10,000 jabs per day.

The Chief Minister visited Karmashree Nagen Neog Smriti Bhavan at Barua Gaon along with the late minister's widow Ajanta Neog. The Chief Minister also unveiled the statue of Sati Sadhani at Sadhani Kalaskhetra. He inspected the proposed areas for a medical college in the Golaghat district and Sati Sadhani University. The government has already allotted Rs 50 crore for the construction of Sati Sadhani University.
