Colour of justice is always the same: Gauhati High Court Chief Justice

GOLAGHAT: "A healthy mind and a healthy heart are necessary for proper justice. There is no difference in the colour of justice, the colour of justice is always the same, there should be no discrimination," said Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia while inaugurating the new judicial court building in the Golaghat district on Sunday.

Participating in the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Justice recalled two senior persons of Golaghat, Rai Bahadur Ghanshyam Baruah and Krishna Prasad Duwara, who were involved in the judicial system. The Chief Justice said, "The excellence of such a great and beautiful building will remain intact only if the justice system is affordable, excellent and proper. It is important to ensure that no person who comes to this beautiful building of justice feels wrong."

Quoting Abraham Lincoln, he said that determination, hard work and study could help a person involved in the justice system succeed. He advocated the setting up of libraries in the court premises and urged every lawyer to study regularly.

Gauhati High Court Judge Suman Shyam also addressed the function. He said infrastructure development was a continuous process. "A better building does not mean that a justice system is justified, but such a building helps in creating a beautiful environment to work towards bringing about a stable environment in the justice system," he said. He also said cooperation between lawyers and benches played an important role in strengthening the justice system.

Speaking on the occasion, Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Mrigesh Narayan Baruah shared the details of the rich history of the famous Doyang-Dhanshiri Valley of the district. Stating that this court building, the tallest in Golaghat, had been constructed in a very beautiful manner, he advocated the construction of such buildings in each district.

Speaking on the occasion, District and Sessions Judge Vinod Kumar Chandak thanked all parties involved in the construction of the building. He said that with the construction of this building, civil, commercial, juvenile, POSCO, district law service authorities and other courts would be on the same premises from now on.

Golaghat Lawyers' Association president Dipam Ranjan Handique, Superintendent of Police Sumit Sharma, judges, lawyers and a large number of people involved in the justice system were present on the occasion.

The state-of-the-art building, which has been constructed by the Department of Housing for Rs. 29,56,49,812, has a total of six floors. The construction of the building started in August 2014.
