DONGKAMUKAM: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma urged the Karbis to be relentless in the practice of their language and culture to march forward in their journey towards prosperity.

Speaking at the open session of the 30th conference of Karbi Lammet Amei at Donkamukam in the West Karbi Anglong district on Thursday, the Chief Minister said that towards the enrichment of the Karbi literature, Karbi Lammet Amei had an immense role to play. He said that with their rich culture and folklore, the Karbi community was an invaluable asset for the State. "Their language and culture have enriched the diversities of the State. The government will develop the Karbi language and culture," he said.

The Karbi Lammet Amei has been working untiringly for the progress of the Karbis. He also said that the love for the mother tongue leads the people to live with dignity by enriching and strengthening their identity. The Karbi Lammet Amei gave a platform to the writers and litterateurs of the community to practise their language and literature.

The Chief Minister also said that inspired by litterateurs like Bong Long Terang, Kehai Bey, Longkam Teron, Rong Bong Terang, Samsing Hanse, Dhansing Engti and others, several young writers from the community came out to serve the Karbi language and literature.

The Chief Minister also said that the contributions of Karbi writers have immensely enriched the literature of Assam. Without diluting their own ethnic identity, these writers have paved the way for the relentless march of the Karbi literature while opening new avenues for cultural exchange, harmony and camaraderie. He further urged the Karbi Lammet Amei to continue its unwavering efforts to promote the Karbi language and literature as the leading literary organization of the community.
