GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday sounded the Assembly poll bugle by coming down heavily on the newly formed Congress-led alliance by saying that it would encourage the entry of illegal immigrants into Assam.

"Can the Congress and the AIUDF keep Assam free from illegal immigrants? They will open doors to infiltrators as it suits their vote-bank politics. Can Assam be safe in their hands? For Assam to be secure, we need BJP governments in Centre and Assam," said Shah while addressing the BJP's public rally entitled 'Vijay SangkalpaSamabhekh' in Nalbari district on Sunday afternoon.

Mentionably, the Opposition Congress had recently forged a pre-poll alliance with the AIUDF, the AnchalikGanaMorcha, CPI, CPI (M) and CPI (ML).

Shah also criticized the newly formed regional parties in the State and accused them of indirectly aiding the Congress. He appealed to the voters to help the BJP to remain in power for development, progress and solution of various burning problems in the State.

Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal, Health & Finance Minister HimantaBiswaSarma and other top State BJP leaders were present at the public rally in Nalbari. While addressing the rally, Sarma asserted that the BJP will come to power for the second time in the State.
