Corona rates fluctuating between four & six percent in Assam

With respect to the coronavirus cases, Assam registered the maximum “positivity rate” of 6.45% on a single day

GUWAHATI: With respect to the coronavirus cases, Assam registered the maximum "positivity rate" of 6.45% on a single day and the minimum of 4.55% from August 13 to August 21. During these nine days, 18,909 positive COVID-19 cases were detected across the State.

The daily positive cases as well as the positivity rates during the mentioned period are as follows, said State Health Department sources: On August 13, 2020, altogether 2,796 positive cases were detected with the positivity rate of 4.55%. On August 14, there were 2,706 positive cases with 5.44% positivity rate. While on August 15, a total of 1,057 cases (with 5.08% positivity rate) were registered; on August 16, there were 1,317 cases (6.46%); on August 17, there were 2,792 cases (5.63%); on August 18, the registered positive cases were 2,534 (5.70%); on August 19, a total of 2,116 cases (5.23%) were detected; and on August 20, a total of 1,735 (5.02%) cases were recorded.

On August 21, of the 36,180 samples tested across the State, a total of 1,856 were found to be COVID-19 positive cases with the positivity rate of 5.12%. The highest number of 433 positive cases was recorded in Kamrup (Metro), followed by Dibrugarh (150), Cachar (143), and Kamrup (121).

Meanwhile, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted on Saturday, "Data of testing versus cases in Guwahati since July 1: I am glad to see that the positivity rate has remained constant around 5%; and there is no exponential growth. With your support, we've been able to maintain this rate. We request your continued cooperation."
