COVID-19 Drive in Assam, 2,014 Doctors & Health Workers Vaccinated on Jan 18

GUWAHATI, Jan 18: Around 2,014 doctors and Health workers were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Assam on Tuesday. It was the second day of the first COVID vaccine roll-out process across the nation.

The total target was 4,074 for Tuesday. The Health department said that the vaccination drive in the State was so far satisfactory. It was held in all the 41 vaccination session sites planned for the day.

Of the 41 session sites, 39 administered the Covishield vaccine, while two session sites in Barpeta district administered the Covaxin to the beneficiaries. Around 1,920 beneficiaries out of the targetted coverage of 3,874 for Covishield have been administered with Covishield, while 94 beneficiaries of the total coverage target of 200 for Covaxin have been administered this vaccine. Only a single minor case of AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunization) has been reported from the district of Jorhat, Assam for the day.

While Lakhimpur, Kamrup Metropolitan and Dibrugarh districts reported a high coverage of beneficiaries for the day with 216, 195 and 172 beneficiaries vaccinated respectively; districts such as Hailakandi, Sivasagar and West KarbiAnglong reported the lowest coverage for the day with 10, 28 and 45 beneficiaries being vaccinated respectively.

The COVID-19 vaccination will be administered for four days a week across the State, followed by two days of 'Routine Immunization' in the week.
