Deori Autonomous Council Polls Today in Assam

The elections to the Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) to be held today. A total of 75 candidates are in fray.

GUWAHATI: The elections to the Deori Autonomous Council (DAC) to be held today. A total of 75 candidates are in fray. These include 18 candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 4 from Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), 14 from the Indian National Congress (INC), 7 from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), one from Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), 2 from Raijor Dal and 29 independent candidates.

Polling will be conducted from 8 am to 4 pm. Counting of votes will be done on November 10. The DAC polls will cover a few districts and subdivisions of North Assam and Upper Assam. These districts are Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Majuli, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sadiya, Margherita, Jonai and Gohpur. The total number of voters in 22 constituencies is 43,595. Polling will be held in 93 polling stations.
