 Three strategic railway lines to Arunachal under consideration

 STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The Ministry of Railways is actively considering several railway connectivity projects to strategically important Arunachal Pradesh from Assam.

At present, the Railway Ministry has four such projects, including three strategic railway lines, on hand. A report from the Ministry of Railways has revealed this.

The strategic railway line, Pasighat-Tezu-Parshuramkund-Rupai, is 217.83 km long. After the completion of the survey, the Railways prepared the DPR (detailed project report) of the project and submitted that to the Ministry of Defence.

The survey of the 201.46-km-long second strategic railway line from Misamari (Bhalukpong) to Tawang via Tenga is also complete. The Ministry of Railways prepared the DPR and submitted it to the Ministry of Defence.

The 96.02-km Silapathar-Bame-Along rail line is the third proposed strategic railway line. The Ministry of Railways has also prepared its DPR and submitted that to the Ministry of Defence.

Since Arunachal Pradesh is strategically important, the Ministry of Railways needs to send the DPRs of projects in such areas to the Ministry of Defence for approval. The Ministry of Railways will go ahead with these three strategically important railway connectivity projects only after getting approval from the Ministry of Defence.

The fourth, 300-km railway line between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh is important from the point of view of railway connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh. The proposed project will snake from Tinsukua (Longpatia) to Pasighat via Kanubari, Deomali, Lekhapani, Jairampur, Kharsang, Miao, Diyun,Tezu, Bhishmaknagar, Roing, and Dambuk. The survey of the project is going on.

All four of the proposed projects are from Assam to Arunachal Pradesh.

According to sources, even if the Railway Ministry gets approval for the four proposed projects from various quarters, the projects will take time because of the difficult terrain in Arunachal Pradesh.
