GUWAHATI: The State Government has hiked the dearness allowance/dearness relief (DA/DR) by four percent with effect from July 1, 2022, as a Diwali gift to its employees and pensioners. With this hike, the DA/DR of the State government employees and pensioners will be 38 percent of their basic pay or basic pensions.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, "Happy to announce 4% additional Dearness Allowance for State Govt employees/All India Service Officers w.e.f. 1st July 2022, payable with this month's salary. Hope, this will add to the festive fervour. Also extending my good wishes for an auspicious and happy Deepawali!"
The Finance Department has already notified the hike in DA/DR on Sunday, despite being a holiday.
According to the notification, the enhanced DA will also apply to work-charged employees and those paid from contingencies and holding posts carrying identical pay scales as applicable to the employees of regular establishments of corresponding categories. The employees and pensioners will get the enhanced rate of 38 per cent DA/DR along with the monthly pay/pension from October 2022.
The government will pay the arrears DA/DR with effect from July 1 to September 30, 2022, in a single instalment through the bank accounts of the employees and the pensioners.
