Educational institutes to witness soft landing of Chandrayaan-3

GUWAHATI: All educational institutions in the state, right from primary schools to universities, will remain open on August 23 to witness the soft-landing telecast of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon. Following a letter from the Union Ministry of Education, the educational institutions have received letters from separate authorities.

In his letter to all state governments, Union Education Minister K. Sanjay Murthy said, “The landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 is a monumental occasion that will not only fuel curiosity but also spark a passion for exploration within the minds of our youth. It will generate a profound sense of pride and unity as we collectively celebrate the prowess of Indian science and technology. It will contribute to fostering an environment of scientific inquiry and innovation. I would, therefore, request that you kindly organise special assemblies from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm with the participation of students and faculty and live stream Chandrayaan-3 landing on the moon, so that they also get an opportunity to witness this momentous occasion.”

The UGC (University Grants Commission) has also issued a similar letter to the vice chancellors of all universities and principals of all colleges and institutes to organize special assemblies from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm with the participation of students and faculty to witness the live streaming of Chandrayaan-3 landing on the moon.

In yet another letter, the Director of Secondary Education directed and instructed all Inspectors of Schools to instruct all schools and educational institutions to witness the live telecasting of the landing of Chandrayaan-3 under their respective jurisdictions.

The Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, Assam, has also directed the mission coordinators of all districts to ensure that all schools and educational institutions across the state remain open until 6 p.m. and organize the live streaming of Chandrayaan-3’s soft landing on the moon’s surface. The Mission Director has also requested that the mission coordinators invite the students of nearby schools to a particular school organizing the live streaming of Chandrayan-3’s landing.

The live coverage will be available via multiple platforms, including ISRO’s website, YouTube channel, and DD National TV channel.

The Additional Secretary to the Department of School Education has also written a similar letter to the Director of Elementary Education, Director of Secondary Education, Director of SCERT, and the MD of Adarsha Vidyalayas to ensure special assemblies in educational institutes in the state from 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. to witness the landing on Chandrayaan-3 on the surface of the moon on August 23.
