Exempt rural populace from paying royalty: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed the Forest Department to take measures to exempt rural people from paying royalty for forest resources used for the construction of personnel structures. Such materials include sand, chips, boulders, etc.

The Chief Minister had a meeting with DFOs and other high-level forest officials today. Putting stress on the use of high-tech gadgets for the preservation of forests and wildlife, he said, “Keep close watch on encroachment activities in forest areas with satellite imagery. Monitor the activities of poachers through mobile phone tracking technology, besides conducting a scientific survey for the erection of mobile towers inside forest areas.”
