File affidavit in three weeks: Gauhati High Court to CS and Health Department

GUWAHATI: A division bench of the Gauhati High Court ordered the Assam Chief Secretary and the Principal Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department that they should file an affidavit regarding the status for providing a special ward in the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) and also regarding details of the benefits given to the transgender community under Atal Amrit Abhiyan and Ayushman Bharat, within three weeks. The Court gave this as the last chance to the two respondents. The division bench further said that if the two respondents fail to file the affidavit within the stipulated time, the Court will impose a necessary cost on them (the two respondents).

The bench comprises Justice N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Manish Choudhury. The Bench issued the order on the PIL 74/2018 on September 6, 2021.
