GUWAHATI: As many as 128 artistes from the fields of music, dance, theatre, traditional/folk/tribal music/puppetry and overall contribution and scholarship in the performing arts from across the country were announced on Friday as recipients of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021. These 128 artistes include three joint awards.
The recipients include Assam's Ranjumoni Saikia (Xatriya dance, 2019), Pranjal Saikia (theatre/acting, 2019), Abhinash Sarma (theatre/direction, 2019), Gunindra Nath Ojah (Ankiya Bhaona, 2021), and Prasanta Gogoi (folk music & dance, 2021).
The General Council of the National Academy also unanimously elected ten eminent personalities in the field of performing arts as Akademi Fellows.
