Flood affects 6 districts of Assam

The flood situation worsened in the state today with the inundation of fresh areas, affecting more people, their households and crops.

GUWAHATI: The flood situation worsened in the state today with the inundation of fresh areas, affecting more people, their households and crops. Erosion also accompanied the floods in several places. Six districts of the state - Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Kamrup (M), Dibrugarh, Cachar, and Nalbari - are under the grip of floods. It is urban flooding that has affected people in Kamrup (M), Cachar and Nalbari districts.

According to ASDMA sources, flood waters inundated 25 villages in the state affecting 28,870 people, besides inundating 215.57 hectares of crop area. The surging water also affected livestock in the state.

The five erosion-affected districts are Biswanath, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Bongaigaon and Lakhimpur.
