GUWAHATI: The flood fury continues to take its toll in the State. With the death of three more persons on Wednesday, the total toll by floods has risen to 107 in the State this year.

A person each from Kalgachia in Barpeta district, the forest village in Kokrajhar district and Chamaria in Kamrup district drowned on Wednesday.

While the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Nemeatighat in Jorhat, Tezpur and Dhubri; the Dhansiri is in pate at Numaligarh in Golaghat district; the Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing in Sonitpur district and the Kopili at Dharamtul in Nagaon district.

As many as 16,54,984 people at 1,536 villages in 54 revenue circles under 21 districts have been affected by the deluge. Crop areas measuring around 92,899.95 hectares have also been affected by the surging water. Around 6,56, 963 big and 3,53,656 small animals, besides 8,07,320 poultry have also been facing the wrath of flood. In the Kaziranga National Park (KNP) 142 animals died so far. Erosion has also been reported at various places from Baksa, Udalguri and Lakhimpur districts.
