Flood situation improving in Assam

GUWAHATI: Despite the Brahmaputra flowing above its danger level in the Dhubri district, the flood situation in the state is improving slowly. As of this date, 20 revenue circles in eight districts in the state are under the grip of floods. The districts are Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, and Nagaon.

The floods affected as many as 79,060 people in 351 villages in the state as of this date. The worst-affected district in the state today in terms of population affected (47,063) is Darrang. Following Darrang is Golaghat, with 27,837 people facing the wrath of the deluge.

Six relief camps are operational in the state, three each in Bokakhat and Kaliabor.
