GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asked the civil and security administrations to make elaborate arrangements for celebrating Independence Day in a grand manner. He also asked the security forces to take adequate security measures to foil any purported bid from any antisocial element to disrupt the celebrations.

The nation will complete its 75 years of Independence on August 15, 2022. Convening a meeting with the senior officers of civil and security administration from police, army and air force in the conference hall of his office in Janata Bhawan, the Chief Minister made an earnest call to the senior officers to make the celebrations of Independence Day a memorable one. He also asked the officers to prepare blueprints for three-day celebrations from August 14 to 16.

The Chief Minister said that the celebrations of the occasion should be thought and executed in such a way to evoke nationalism and patriotism and enable the people to appreciate the ethos associated with Independence Day. He also said that an all-out preparation should be made to enable the people from all sections of the society to celebrate the festivity associated with the occasion. Considering the supreme sacrifices of scores of freedom fighters, the Chief Minister said that the programmes lined up for the Independence Day celebrations should help the young generation connect with the rich heritage of the country and the unparallel sacrifice made by freedom fighters.

He also said that the security forces should also put up their show in such a manner to elicit people's participation and love for the country. Government buildings would be illuminated aesthetically and patriotic songs would be played across the state in the run-up to Independence Day.

He also asked Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah to hold a meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners to plan the celebrations of the Independence Day in a grand manner in their respective districts, a press release said.
