GUWAHATI: Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was readmitted to the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) on Sunday night due to post- COVID-19 complications.
Tarun Gogoi (86) had spent the past two months in the GMCH after he tested COVID-19 positive in August. He was discharged from the hospital on October 25.
"We got a call at around 10:30 pm on Sunday that he was feeling restless. He was brought to GMCH; and is currently on non-invasive ventilation. The restlessness was due to carbon dioxide retention, which led to a spike in his ammonia level. Even though his condition is critical, he is conscious and responding to treatment. His condition has not further deteriorated," said GMCH Superintendent DrAbhijitSarma.
A team of senior GMCH doctors and specialists are monitoring Gogoi's condition round the clock.
