GUWAHATI: With four rivers, including the Brahmaputra, flowing above their danger levels, the flood situation in the state has deteriorated compared to the situation in the past few days. According to the evening bulletin of the CWC (Central Water Commission), the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger levels at Neamatighat in the Jorhat district, the Dikhou river at Sivasagar in the Sivasagar district, the Disang river at Nanglamuraghat in the Sivasagar district, and the Dhansiri river at Numaligarh in the Golaghat district.
The bulletin further said that the Brahmaputra is maintaining a rising trend in Neamatighat, Tezpur, Goalpara, and Dhubri. The mighty river is steady in Dibrugarh and Guwahati.
According to the ASDMA (Assam State Disaster Management Authority), the deluge affected 175 villages in six districts in the state today. The districts are Darrang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, and Sivasagar. The report also said that the floods have affected as many as 26,964 people, with Dhemaji facing the worst wrath of the deluge, affecting 19,163 people. Two relief camps are operational in Sivasagar district, where 435 affected people are taking shelter.
Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Guwahati, predicted light and medium rainfall in most of the places in Assam and heavy rainfall and lightning in a few other places in the state in the next 24 hours. Chauldhowaghat received the highest rainfall in the State in the past 24 hours.
