GUWAHATI: The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) at Borjhar on Tuesday predicted that thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind with a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour and heavy rains are very likely to occur at isolated places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Wednesday.

The RMC has also predicted that thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.

"Cyclone Amphan is likely to weaken into an extremely severe cyclonic storm, move north-northeastwards over the Bay of Bengal and cross West Bengal-Bangladesh coasts between Digha and Hatia Islands during Wednesday afternoon. As result, many north-eastern States including Assam will experience heavy rainfall. High speed wind may accompany the rains," a source in RMC said.

The RMC further predicted that Guwahati will experience heavy rain or thundershowers with strong gusty wind on Wednesday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be 26°C and 19°C respectively on that day.
