Guwahati Municipal Corporation notice to 61 nursing homes

GUWAHATI: The GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) has asked 61 private hospitals and nursing homes to submit "occupancy certificates as built plan" within seven days after issuance of notice by the Corporation, said an official of the GMC here on Sunday.

An 'Occupancy Certificate' is a document that is issued by a civic body, upon the completion of construction of a new project. The certificate is a proof that the project has been built by adhering to the applicable building codes, relevant regulations and laws. The certificate is also an indication that the building is suitable for occupancy.

Earlier, a few private hospitals and nursing homes have submitted their "occupancy certificate as built plan" after the GMC authorities issued its first notice on September 21 vide No GMC/ 276/202122/180.

Some of the prominent private hospitals and nursing homes which received Sunday's notice include the Excelcare Hospital, Pachim Boragaon; Hayat Hospital Pvt Ltd, Odalbakra Road; Ayursundra Health Care Pvt Ltd, Betkuchi, Ahom Gaon; Wintrobe Hospital, GNB Road; Satribari Christan Hospital; Narayana Super Speciality Clinic (Day Care); Akanksha Hospital, Gotanagar; Guwahati Netralaya (Eye Hospital Research Centre), SC Road, Kumarpara; Swagat Hospital Pvt Ltd , AT Road; Central Nursing Home, Basistha Road; Downtown Hospital Ltd, GS Road; Rahman Hospital, VIP Road; GNRC Hospital Ltd; Pratiksha Hospital Pvt Ltd; Global Hospital of Surgery & Institution of Endolepar's Copy, Hatigaon Road; Sankardeva Netralaya; Dispur Hospitals Pvt Ltd, GS Road; Nemcare Hospital, GS Road; Goenka Nursing Home (P) Ltd and the Institute of Human Reproduction, Bharalumukh.

In the notification, the GMC also mentioned that the reason for notifying the hospitals and nursing homes are "record keeping", adding that "further verification purposes are on".

The official added, "Strict action will be initiated against the hospitals, if they fail to submit their occupancy certificate within seven days.
