Highest-ever success rate in Higher Secondary exams in Assam

As high as 98.93 per cent Arts, 99.57 per cent Commerce, 99.06 per cent Science and 97.41 per cent vocational candidates passed the HS (Higher Secondary) examinations, 2021.

GUWAHATI: As high as 98.93 per cent Arts, 99.57 per cent Commerce, 99.06 per cent Science and 97.41 per cent vocational candidates passed the HS (Higher Secondary) examinations, 2021. These are the highest-ever success rates in any HS examinations in Assam.

According to the results declared by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) on Saturday, in the Arts stream, 1,89,793 of the 1,91,855 candidates passed the examinations. As many as 58,244 candidates secured the first division, 89,520 the secured division, and 42,029 candidates secured the third division. Among 1,89,793 candidates who cleared the examination, 88,084 are males and 1,01,709 are females.

Amongst the districts, South Salmara topped the list with a success rate of 99.86 per cent. Following South Salmara is Karimganj with 99.69 per cent and Darrang with 99.68 per cent.

This year the success rate is 98.93 per cent against 78.28 per cent in 2020 and 75.14 per cent in 2019.

In the Commerce stream, 18,364 of the 18,443 candidates passed the examinations. As many as 11,189 candidates secured the first division, 5,497 the secured division, and 1,678 candidates secured the third division. Among 18,364 candidates who cleared the examination, 13,429 are males, and 4,935 are females.

As many as 13 districts registered a 100 per cent success rate. The districts are Biswanath, Charaideo, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Morigaon, Nalbari, South Salmara, Udalguri and West Karbi Anglong.

The success rate in Commerce stream this year is 99.57 per cent against 88.18 per cent in 2020 and 87.59 14 per cent in 2019.

In the Science stream, 38,068 of the 38,430 candidates passed the examinations. As many as 32,917 candidates passed in the first division, 4,609 in the second division, and 452 candidates in the third division. Among the 38,068 candidates who cleared the examination, 25,115 are males, and 12,953 are females.

While Dima Hasao had a success rate of 100 per cent, Baksa registered a 99.86 per cent success rate and 99.83 per cent by Sivasagar.

This year the success rate is 99.06 per cent against 88.06 per cent in 2020 and 86.59 per cent in 2019.

In Vocational Stream, 1,053 of the 1,081 candidates passed the examination. As many as 618 candidates secured the first division, 381 candidates secured the second division, and 54 got the third division. Amongst the successful candidates, 771 are males, and 282 are females. The overall success rate in this stream is 99.41 per cent against 91.55 per cent in 2020 and 89.42 in 2019.

The State Government had cancelled this year's HS final examinations due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic situation. The government constituted a high-power committee of experts to work out an alternative evaluation formula. The HS results declared on Saturday were based on the alternative evaluation formula worked out by the experts.
