In last 2 years, 2,927 extremists surrendered under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: In the last two years, under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Assam Police apprehended 421 militants and recovered 114 arms; 5,386 rounds of ammunition; 54 grenades; 4,241 detonators; 26 kg explosives and Rs 2,32,520 cash.

During the same period, 2,927 extremists surrendered. Around 1,020 weapons were surrendered and 15,475 rounds of ammunition; 115 grenades; 22 IEDs, and 33.05 kg explosives were deposited.

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh said, “With people’s support, the sustained action against extremism under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has brought peace to the region and resulted in the rapid decline of violent activities. We remain committed to ensuring peace and prosperity in our beloved land.”
