NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump gave a huge push to the Indo-US relations, terming it a “Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership”.
In the joint statement after talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House here, President Trump said the two countries have agreed on a new mechanism to counter and contain the menace of drug trafficking.
Defence deals worth $3 billion involving the purchase of advanced American military equipment, including Apache and MH-60 Romeo Helicopters, were also announced in a press statement.
As Trump stressed that the two nations never had a better relation as under him and PM Modi, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said that India and the US reiterated a “strong strategic partnership” in defence.
It added that a legal framework on trade will materialize soon. (IANS)
