Lying outside the reservation bracket (SC, ST and OBC) and the gross annual income of your family is less than Rs 8 lakh (in case of Central quota) or Rs 6 lakh (in case of State quota)? If so, you can avail reservation for government jobs and admission in educational institutions for belonging to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) despite being a general, provided agricultural and residential land which your family owns doesn’t exceed the specified bars as given below. According to the office memorandum issued by the Central government on EWS, the landed property of the family should not exceed five acres of agricultural land, residential flat of 1,000 sq ft, residential plot of 100 sq yards in notified municipalities, a residential plot of 100 sq yards in areas other than notified municipalities in case of the Central EWS quota.
According to the office memorandum issued by the State government on EWS, the family of an applicant keen to avail benefits under EWS should not possess 15 bigha of agricultural land, one bigha of residential land and 1.5 katha of land in municipal corporation, municipal board and town committee or built up area of more than 1,000 sq ft. However, the landed property has to be corroborated by income and asset certificates that are issued by the State revenue circle officers.
To get income and asset certificate for EWS, an applicant has to apply to his/her revenue circle officer concerned in a plain paper. The application should have a copy of the applicant’s passport size photo, along with documents corroborating their landed property and gross annual income of the family from all sources.
If everything goes smoothly, an applicant gets the income and asset certificate issued within a week after verification.
